Mail Across the Country

30 reads·1 min read
People write letters or send packages. They put them in a mailbox or take them to a post office. A mail carrier picks up the mail from mailboxes. It all goes to a big sorting center. At the center, machines read addresses. They sort mail for different cities and towns. Some mail goes far away, across the country. Big trucks take mail to airports. Planes fly the mail to other states. Sometimes trains or other trucks carry it too. This helps mail travel quickly. When mail arrives in a new city, it goes to another sorting center. It is sorted again, this time for specific neighborhoods. Finally, a local mail carrier takes the mail. They drive or walk their route. They put letters and packages right into homes and businesses. This is how your mail gets to you, no matter how far it travels!
