The Long Life of Olive Trees

Olive trees are very special. They grow in warm places, like near the sea. These trees can live for a very, very long time. Some olive trees are thousands of years old! Imagine a tree that was alive when ancient kings lived. That is how old some of them are. An olive tree has small, green leaves that look silvery. They stay green all year. The tree grows small fruits called olives. Olives start green and turn dark when they are ripe. People pick the olives from the trees. Then, they press the olives to make olive oil.
