The Bowerbird's Fancy Home

Have you ever heard of a bowerbird? These special birds live in places far away. Male bowerbirds are known for building amazing structures. They do not build nests to hold eggs. Instead, they make a fancy home called a bower. A bower is a place just for the male bird to show off! He wants to attract a female bowerbird. First, he builds his bower with sticks and twigs. Then, he looks for pretty things to decorate it. He finds colorful berries, shiny stones, and even bright feathers. He carefully places these items around his bower. He hopes a female will like his hard work. If she does, they might become a pair. The bowerbird works hard to make his bower the best.
