Ada Lovelace was a smart woman who lived a long time ago. She loved numbers and big ideas. Her father was a poet, but Ada liked science best. Ada worked with a man named Charles Babbage. He made plans for a very special machine. It was called the Analytical Engine. It could do hard math problems. Ada saw more for this machine. She thought it could do more than just count numbers. She wrote down steps, like a recipe, for the machine to follow. These steps could help the machine make music or even pictures, not just math. Ada saw how machines could think in new ways. Her ideas were very important for computers we use today.
