A Big Step for Space

On this day, July 29, 1958, a very important group began. It was called NASA. NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Before NASA, many people worked on rockets and flying to space. But there was not one big team for it all. The world wanted to learn more about space. People wondered what was up there. They dreamed of visiting the moon and other planets. NASA was made to help make these dreams come true. Since that day, NASA has sent many brave astronauts into space. They have launched powerful rockets and studied our solar system. NASA helped put the first people on the moon. This group keeps helping us explore the great big universe around us. It is still learning new things every day!
