Kit's Cool Cave

Kit the fox kit felt very warm. The summer sun made her fur feel hot. She wanted a cool spot to rest. Kit looked for shade near big trees. But even there, the air felt thick. Kit saw a small, dark hole in a rock. It looked like a tiny cave. She poked her nose in. A blast of cool air came out! Kit felt brave. She crept inside slowly. Her paws padded softly on the damp ground. It was dark, but a little light came from the entrance. Kit went deeper. The air grew cooler with each step. She saw smooth, wet stones on the floor. A drop of water fell from the roof. This was a perfect place! Kit curled up on a flat, cool stone. She was glad she had explored the quiet, dark cave.
